YWCA Secunderabad, World YWCA Intern (2021)

What started as an internship opportunity at her local YWCA association in Secunderabad three years ago became the starting point for Annie's leadership journey at the YWCA.

As a dedicated volunteer and YWCA board member, Annie has actively engaged in programmes for women and girls and initiatives focused on creating safe spaces, facilitating life skills education, and addressing domestic violence and mental health issues.

In her words:

"Girls and women have always suffered from abuse, violence, and discrimination. It's time we join hands and create safe spaces for all where wounds can turn into wisdom."

Additionally, Annie has taken leadership roles in different committees within the YWCA. This opportunity has allowed her to collaborate directly with people living with HIV and leverage virtual platforms to address various social issues affecting communities in India.

She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce in International Business, and is keen to strategise ways to empower young women to be entrepreneurs, which will empower them to be financially healthy and independent.
